Balanced wellbeing

POGGIO A CAIANO. “Balanced wellbeing”: this is the name of the new group created within the context of the Misericordia of Poggio a Caiano with the patronage of the Municipality, even though concealed behind the title is a real philosophy of life to which it is important to pay attention. In fact, this project, dedicated to movement, aggregation and culture, concerns the itinerary of motor activities dedicated to the people of Poggio a Caiano, and particular, to those subjects who suffer from chronic degenerative diseases, but with a well-defined intention: that of forgetting about being ill, at least for two hours. The reason? This is explained by Valentino Grassi, creator and coordinator of the group “Keeping healthy and balance”. Suffering from Parkinson’s disease for several years now, right from the start Grassi decided not to take refuge inside himself as the majority of people with similar diagnoses do, but instead to live every day to the full, because as he himself likes to remind us, “Life always wins”. Finding new lymph as he has done, however, is not enough if we are not able to convince others as well. It was thus that this idea was born which is certainly not the first he has put into action, always with the same goals.

“The project stems from the collaboration between the Misericordia of Poggio a Caiano and the municipal administration”, explains Grassi proudly, who, not by chance, also forms part of the executive committee of the Association Parkinson’s and Us – Poggio a Caiano. It represents a wonderful reality and the Municipality has demonstrated yet again how open it is towards these ideas which can have an important social implication in our community. “Balanced wellbeing” is a way to offer a 360-degree aggregation space where those who are ill can shake off all their thoughts and just have fun, confronting each other, sharing and feeling free to socialise while those who are not able to do this can still practice healthy activities and be with other people. During those two hours, there are no sick people”.

The appointment is on Monday, from 11.00 am until 12 midday and Thursday, from 11.30 am until 12.30 pm in the municipal gym in Via Giotto, Poggio a Caiano. All those interested can get in touch with the Misericordia of Poggio a Caiano on 055/877008 and 055/8777106. Meanwhile, there is an event really worth noting in your diary to help this important project. On 16 March in fact, Maestro Andrea Trovato will be giving a truly beautiful piano recital with music by Franz Listz. The proceeds of the evening, organised by Misericordia and starting at 6.00 pm in the Scuderie Medicee, will go to the group, “Balanced wellbeing”.
